Assembly of Furnace at Hidronitro Española

Recently ALCO has terminated the handling works of the elements of the structure, the supply silos, and the new furnace installed by Hidronitro Española in their installations in Monzón which will enable them to increase their production.

The works required a great deal of synchronisation and complete precision. The assembly was carried out inside the factory, in a very small area and taking advantage of the times between castings as one of the determinants was not to stop the daily production. Taking into consideration that in every discharge of the melts the temperature exceeds 1,000 ºC, and it was necessary to clear the entire safety perimeter, the coordination and precision were key elements in each of the manoeuvres.

For the assembly, which was supervised on site by ALCO's own prevention serviceown prevention service, the technicians from the mobile crane's department chose the liebherr 1100, that with maxim operative loading capacities of 100 T and 75 m high and a total length of 13 m; combines the necessary size and power to operate in limited spaces manipulating with agility and precision the elements of the furnace's structure, with weights of up to 28 T; those of the actual furnace – sections of up to 57 T – and of those of the silos formed by pieces of up to 26T, mounted at 26 m high.

Besides from the furnace installation, ALCO's Mobile Cranes  continue to work at Hidonitro in the tasks of extension of the installations carried out in the foundry which is located in the province of Huesca that belongs to Grupo Ferroatlántica.
